  • Service Chiefs’ Fellows Program (SCFP)

The DARPA Service Chiefs’ Fellows Program (SCFP) was established to immerse outstanding military officers and Government civilians into imaginative and innovative fast-paced science and technology research.  Fellows are assigned to DARPA for a 3-month period, during which they execute a project that teaches them about DARPA by doing what DARPA does.  While serving at DARPA, Fellows also engage specific program managers responsible for programs that could impact the future operations, missions and the individual Fellow.  Exposure to the innovation process by managing a short term science and technology project and engaging DARPA program managers and technology developers, allows Fellows to return to the field with an appreciation for the Agency’s role in supporting DoD missions by preventing and creating strategic surprise on short and long time scales. Upon completion of their assignment to the SCFP, fellows create an effective liaison between DARPA and the Services due in large part to the close relationships developed during the program and the experiential understanding of DARPA's technology development process.
