Warfighters are required to rapidly master diverse skills spanning the entire cognitive to psychomotor spectrum. In this focus area, DSO is developing the science, methods, and technologies to enable our warfighters to optimize their training and effectiveness. Research efforts are under way to discover and apply advances in neuroscience to improve information processing under stress and to increase the rate and quality of learning. In addition, DSO is revolutionizing training by facilitating high-quality training—for everyone, anywhere, and at any time. Current efforts focus on personal computer-based training systems that include elements of human tutor interactions and real-world scenarios, methods to assess critical team performance, and an entirely new simulation builder that will enable warfighters to plan and rehearse critical missions in a realistic environment, in near-real-time, and without the need for software engineers.
